Youth Coaching
I provide two basic kinds of coaching for youth athletes; speed & conditioning for ball sport athletes like soccer and football, and training for track, cross-country and triathletes. My emphasis for all youth athletes is long term athletic development. Basically, I train them to be performing their best when they are juniors and seniors in high school. Sometimes that means holding them back a little when they are younger so they don't burn out or overdo it, and run into developmental problems later. We do some things that are outside the box of a lot of programs, particularly when it comes to the development of posture, stability and injury reduction. Athletes that take full advantage of our program will see major improvements in the aforementioned areas that will lead to direct results in mechanical efficiency, power output and resilience. If your athlete has the potential to compete in college we will have them set up for success when they get there. They will know how to use the weight room, how to train properly, understand the importance of sleep and nutrition, and have the mental toolkit to be successful at the next level.

Who I work with
I work with middle school ages and up. There are no requirements other than you show up and be ready to work and learn. You define your success, so you'll get out what you put in. For some that may be a college scholarship, for most that will be improvement year in and year out. I work with sprinters, horizontal jumpers, distance runners, multi-sport athletes and ball sport athletes looking to get faster, fitter and stronger.
Long Term Development
As a coach, I play the long game. Sure, we could pound you with intensity and see impressive short term gains, but if you really want to be successful then you have to invest in the developmental process. When I take on an athlete I go through a number of assessments and determine what will be the best course of action over incrementally longer periods of time (days, weeks, months, years). I assess the potential an athlete has, where their talents are best used and guide them on path towards fulfilling their potential.

Speed & Conditioning
One of the biggest things I notice when I watch a lot of ball sport athletes is how many can't run and/or have low levels of fitness. Some sports are worse than others, and nowadays in the era of "club" sports, I'm often disappointed in the lack of attention paid to speed and conditioning. I design training for those athletes that teaches proper sprint & running mechanics that is appropriate for the athlete and the sport they play. For a wide receiver or running back, they're going to learn how to accelerate, build top end speed and fitness to last all game. For a girls soccer player, we'll work a number of things from speed to endurance. Ultimately, we'll build faster, fitter, more explosive athletes.
Track, Cross-country & Endurance
I provide off season training for track and cross-country athletes, as well as coaching for triathletes and other endurance sports. Currently, I have mainly summer and winter programs for track and XC. Each is designed to build a strong base for the upcoming season. For those interested I will coach you for summer track, the fall/winter XC (like NXN) and indoor meets.
