Adult Coaching

I've been coaching well over 20 years with a high level of success. I define that success not only by the results my athletes achieve, but also by the solid relationships we create. I build realistic, effective, individualized training plans, utilizing healthy goal setting; and keeping long term health interests in mind...I want you to enjoy this sport for life! Most of the athletes that I coach end up working with me for several years. I earn their trust with honesty, compassion and understanding. My highly developed unique skill set allows me to be flexible, creative and productive over a wide range of events from 5k to ultra. As a father and small business owner, I understand how busy life can be and I'm able to help people look down the road and plan accordingly for their big goals. My end game is to be a positive force in people's lives, and teach them how to have a healthy fulfilling relationship with running.

Who I work with

I will work with anyone who is passionate about what they do. What level of athlete you are doesn't really matter as long as you want to invest in yourself and are willing to trust the process. Just because you're not a kid any more doesn't mean we can't develop you as an athlete and a person. I have former collegiate runners, total newbies and everything in between, and we are constantly finding things to work on and develop. I always make sure to put the person first and do my best to keep you healthy and feeling good. Whether you're looking to qualify for Boston or Western States, or just tackle some local 5k's and have fun I'll be happy to work with you.

Trail & Ultra

Trail and ultra racing are a great way to enjoy the sport. However, ultra-trail in particular comes with unique challenges that are much different than most running and endurance events. I've spent a lifetime out in the deserts, forests and mountains of the southwest and pacific northwest. Growing up living, working and accruing countless miles in tough environments is something I've always enjoyed. My background of building trails for the Forest Service and time in the Marine Corps Infantry has blessed me with a well rounded skill-set for trail racing over long distances. Combining that with my years of coaching experience has translated into a lot of successful athletes over a range of distances on the trails from 50k to 100 miles. I really enjoy teaching people how to be safe and efficient when they're out in the wilderness, whether it's the high desert or the backwoods of the PNW. I've got a wealth of knowledge to prepare you for a wide range of events and environments.

Road & Track

The roads and the track are the bread and butter of any runner's routine. As a coach, I've spent decades preparing athletes for a wide range of events on both. I continue to develop and refine my programs to produce happy runners and results. Whether it's a PR in the 5k or a Boston Qualifying time, I can create a successful plan for you. For post collegiate and potential elites looking to transition out of collegiate running I'm happy to work with you and help guide you into a sustainable and fulfilling new relationship with running.

Triathlon & Multisports

Triathlon is a great sport, but it can be complicated to train for. You need a coach that understands that though it does have different disciplines it is still one sport and a good training program reflects that. I've coached all three disciplines (swim, bike and run) individually, and I've coached triathlon for a long time. While there is some cross-over from each individual sport, there are also some unique characteristics to triathlon itself that are important to be cognizant of. I can help with all of the technical pieces and mechanics of each discipline, tying things together and making successful plan that gets you to your goals.
